Early Decision Agreement - if you are not applying Early Decision you may skip this section

Early Decision candidates commit themselves to matriculate at the University of Chicago Law School if admitted through the Early Decision program. An applicant may not be an Early Decision candidate at more than one school during the same annual admissions cycle. Early Decision candidates to the University of Chicago Law School most certainly may apply to other law schools while applying to the University of Chicago Law School on an Early Decision basis. However, they must do so fully realizing that:

  1. they are required to withdraw all other law school applications when notified of their acceptance to the University of Chicago Law School as an Early Decision candidate; and
  2. they may not initiate any new applications after learning of their admission to the University of Chicago Law School under Early Decision.

Early Decision Transfer candidates are evaluated for admission according to the same selection criteria that apply to Regular Decision Transfer candidates. While their particular enthusiasm for the University of Chicago Law School is considered by our Admissions Committee, Early Decision candidates do not enjoy significant advantage in the keenly competitive selection process.

All applicants accepted under the Early Decision Transfer program will be required to submit a law school transcript containing their final first year law school grades. All offers of admission made under the Early Decision Transfer program are contingent upon the Law School's receipt of a final first-year law school transcript demonstrating consistent performance and successful completion of one full year of study at an ABA-accredited law school.

Unsuccessful Early Decision applicants may, of course, continue being considered for admission to law schools where they had previously applied and may initiate applications to additional law schools if they wish.

To the Applicant:

I hereby certify that I have read the above instructions and understand the stated policies and practices that govern Early Decision Transfer admission at the University of Chicago Law School. The University of Chicago Law School is my first choice, and I wish to be considered as an Early Decision Transfer candidate. If accepted under Early Decision, I will matriculate at the University of Chicago Law School. I agree to withdraw all my applications to other schools and agree not to initiate any new ones if and when accepted to the University of Chicago Law School as an Early Decision Transfer candidate. I understand also that I am not permitted to enter into an Early Decision agreement with any other law school.
